Mr. Li currently serves as an independent director and board advisor for numerous Fortune 500 companies and publicly listed enterprises. He also holds the position of expert partner and advisor at several private equity and venture capital funds. He has successfully led corporate initiatives involving domestic and overseas IPOs, investment and financing, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, value enhancement, corporate governance, and strategic planning.
Mr. Li has served as a senior executive at numerous international and domestic banks, including Senior Vice President of Citibank’s Asia-Pacific Region, President of Personal Banking for China at Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation (OCBC) Singapore, CEO of Retail Finance and President of Overseas Development on the Board of Directors at Hengfeng Bank, and Senior Advisor on Strategic Restructuring at GF Bank and SPD Bank. Mr. Li also concurrently served as a director of the Shandong Provincial Financial Society.
Mr. Li has spearheaded the application and preparation for various types of licensed financial institutions, including investment banking holding companies in Hong Kong, consumer finance subsidiaries, wealth management subsidiaries, and digital banks. He has also led direct investments in numerous high-tech companies such as Coinbase, Medallia, Pinterest, Lyft, Circle, UBTECH, BGI Semiconductor, Megvii Technology, Dewu E-commerce, BGI Genomics, Giant Biotech, Horizon Robotics, and OpenAI (ChatGPT). Most of these companies have successfully gone public and exited through IPOs. Additionally, Mr. Li has led and assisted in numerous large-scale mergers and acquisitions, directly participating in post-acquisition restructuring efforts. These include Citibank’s equity stake in GF Bank and Taiwan Hua Yin Bank, Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation’s acquisition of Hong Kong Wing Hang Bank, a Chinese A-share pharmaceutical company’s acquisition of a European pharmaceutical firm, a state-owned enterprise from Hubei Province’s acquisition of an Australian-listed environmental protection company, a major central state-owned enterprise’s acquisition of a German high-speed rail company, a Chinese retail chain’s merger with a U.S.-listed retail company, the mixed-ownership reform of a private steel enterprise that ranked among the Global 500 largest state-owned enterprises, and the acquisition of a private medical device company by a state-owned industrial platform.
Mr. Li holds an MBA from the University of Cambridge in the UK, a Master of Business Administration from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and a dual bachelor’s degree in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics and Economics from Peking University in China.
